Pieces for an initial mock-up were cut.
Darts were sewn into the two back pieces.
Pleats were sewn into the front piece.
The back pieces were sewn together in the center back and the vent was sewn and pressed into place.
The waistband was attached and two side seams were sewn, leaving 9 inches open to account for the presence of a zipper in the final skirt.
After confirming the fit on the mock-up, final pieces were cut from the fashion fabric and darts and pleats were sewn as they were done previously.
The two back pieces were sewn together in the center back and the vent was sewn and pressed.
The front and back were stitched together at the side seams, with space left open for the zipper.
The waistband was reinforced with fusible interfacing and the inside seam allowance was pressed up for later ease of attachment.
The front of the waistband was stitched to the skirt.
The inside of the waistband was handsewn to provide a clean attachment with no visible stitching line.
The zipper was inserted into the opening left in the right side seam.
